Research 101: Introduction to Research for People with Spinal Cord Injury

Kaci Handlery, PT, DPT is an assistant professor in the School of Physical Therapy at the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of South Carolina in 2015 and is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy. She has over five years of clinical experience primarily treating individuals in the acute phase of recovery following traumatic injuries such as spinal cord injury, brain injury, and complex orthopedic injuries. She also served as a research physical therapist at the Motor Behavior and Neuroimaging Laboratory at the University of South Carolina. In her spare time she enjoys hiking throughout the United States, searching for the best local doughnuts, and spending time with her dogs and husband.
Reed Handlery, PhD, DPT is a researcher and physical therapist, completing both of his degrees at the University of South Carolina. His research focus is health promotion and wellness in individuals with neurological diagnoses. Specifically, Dr. Handlery looks for ways of increasing physical activity in individuals with neurological injuries, including both group-based and individuals interventions.
